About Jazmin Wong
Over the last seven years I have learned that I have a deep-rooted passion for teaching piano. In spring of 2020 I was the only in-person teacher that some of my students saw. It was very rewarding to encourage my students during that time. In 2021 I received a 20 under 40 award from the Duluth News Tribune. In Duluth Minnesota and Superior Wisconsin, I taught lessons privately, though Hamlin Music, the American Indian Community Housing Organization, Note Worthy Kids, and the UW-Superior Music Conservatory. More recently I taught at the Milwaukee Steinway Piano Gallery from December 2022 - October 2024. I enjoyed working at Steinway until their studio closures and owners' retirement. My students now get to enjoy practicing on a 1942 Baby Grand S Steinway Piano with ivory keys.
My unique experience to learning music gives me an advantage when teaching. During college I took classes on piano pedagogy, conducting, music technology, and composition. I participated in the UWS choir and sang Carmina Burana by Carl Orff with the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra. During my time at UWS I also participated in steel drum and percussion ensemble and got to play a percussion part for Carmina Burana. My senior thesis project was about transitioning students from lesson books into intermediate reparatory.
I am excited to be teaching again in Milwaukee and being home.
